Tomorrow’s Engineer Live 2024

James was recently honoured to have the opportunity be closing keynote at Tomorrows Engineer Live at Institution Of Civil Engineers.

Thankful for the opportunity to share my personal life journey and experiences in STEM outreach with such engaging and inspiring delegates.

Summarising the day on how STEM outreach and EDI levelling up can be achieved by existing organisations providing some tips and takeaways.

By highlighting experiences, hoped to have sparked inspiration and encouragement in others to pursue their passions and make a positive impact in their own communities.

Tips to build your outreach connectivity:

  • Detail your educational failures and use relatable role models who have the support of the organisation with adequate training provided.

  • Make activations interactive and practical, ensuring that they align with the national curriculum when conducting outreach.

  • In the workplace - Building an inclusive environment to nurture a diverse workforce reflecting society, supported by all employees including senior management and team leaders so it reaches right across your working culture. Measure cultural change over time.
